Next week is Thanksgiving, which feels a bit ‘early’ this year. I guess it’s true that the older we get, the quicker time passes. Regardless, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I enjoy the food, emphasis on family and friends, and the minimal amount of commercialization. Most of all, I appreciate the focus on gratitude. Gratitude is a powerful attribute. Monday, October 9 is Indigenous Peoples Day. At the next City Council meeting on Tuesday, October 10, the Council will present a proclamation declaring October 2023 as Filipino American History Month on Bainbridge Island. It's no secret that we have a great food and beverage scene on Bainbridge Island. By some counts we have 78 restaurants and bars. This week, excited family members texted me to say Bon Appetit magazine had named Brendan McGill’s Seabird Restaurant on Winslow Way as one of the 24 Best New Restaurants of 2023.
